Oh Martyr!
The dispenser of our thoughts;
The pylon of our convictions;
The preacher of our ideals;
The mentor of our destiny.
Oh Martyr!
You’d borne the thought of
A sovereign nation;
The conviction of pluralism and self-respect;
The ideals of free, independent democratic Bhutan.
Oh Martyr!
You’d deeply embedded those ideals,
For the good of Bhutan and the Bhutanese,
And sowed the seeds of hope for all,
To evidence what justice, equality and dignity is!
Oh Martyr!
You’d rightly diagnosed the dark clouds hovering over the canopy of Bhutan:
Feudal with the lust for power, wealth and luxury
Sucking up the national resources
Glomming on to the basic rights of the countryman.
Oh Martyr!
You’d with your mighty hands-
Written the myriads untold sufferings of peasants,
The hunger of a malnourished child,
The woes of the wretch,
And the minds of genius disrobed of opportunity.
Oh Martyr!
With your majestic heart,
You’d spoken for
Justice, peace and prosperity of Bhutan.
Against the cruel rule, the plutocratic hands,
And the idler of our beloved Bhutan.
Oh Martyr!
You with a hope for
A sustainable democratic system in practice,
Sacrificed to the fullest extent of your life.
For our struggle for justice, equality and the freedom.
You’d borne all pains, cruelty and inhuman treatments inflicted in you,
For the good of all
For the sake of justice
To teach the lesson that justice prevails on earth.
Oh Martyr!
For your glorious sacrifice,
For your convictions and ideals,
For your bravery and honesty to our nation,
I salute you,
I admire you,
I respect your convictions,
And follow your ideals for free Bhutan.
And I pray to thy departed souls to meet you in heavens.
