”I personally want to thank the Punya Foundation and show my gratitude towards all those philanthropist members who are contributing towards our societies”

I always had excellent academic results throughout my whole school life and have always shown my curiosity in Education. Besides this, I took part in all sorts of extra curricular activities in school like acting, singing, dancing and drawing. I also love taking challenges and get engaged in management and I volunteer to be the school captain. I always kept myself busy and focused and I volunteered as a librarian in BRCF (Bhutanese Refugee Children Forum) for one year.

After that, I started to give tuition to other students from my school. This is with an intention to help other friends and also to make some pocket money to help myself. I always had a passion for science and mathematics and I dreamed of studying Physics and Mathematics in a good university. Because of my hard work and all those sleepless nights and help from my fantastic and supportive teachers, I scored 77.13 % in School Leaving Certificate and became the boys’ topper from Tri Ratna Secondary School.

Everyone was pleased with me as I was with my progress. Not only to me, the good news of my good performance in high school, brought a mixture of joy and stress to my mother as well. Because of my poor financial background, the doors were closing and seemed impossible for me to go for higher education and get into college. I began sharing my stories with my well wishers, mostly my teachers. It is at that moment, I came to know about the Punya Foundation. I was so happy at the very moment when I heard about Punya Foundation and I filled the form and applied for the scholarship. My need was acknowledged, my financial situation was analyzed and I was selected for the scholarship. I started to go to the college, which brought joy to my family and to me the responsibility to do good and excel further. Students like me have cherished the support of the Punya Foundation, in our community and as well in other countries.

Finally, under the resettlement program offered to the Bhutanese refugees, now I am in the UK. I have started to go to the college here in Manchester. I have plans; I have hopes that I will do A level sciences and then go to Manchester University to study mathematics and physics. I am also working as a volunteer here in Manchester Reachout, where I mentor some students. I am also looking forward to take part in volunteering and contributing to my own community in future. For this, I have agreed to be the Student Ambassador of the Punya Foundation with a hope to assist more and more students go to schools.
