When temperature hits 47 in South Australia, a team of Punya Foundation’s volunteers gathered for free water distribution in hubs of public transport. This is one of the events in continuum.

Mr Kashi Adhikari, Director of Programs, reported approximately 1600 litres of water was distributed in about just two and half hours during the extreme of heatwave in Elizabeth in Adelaide, South Australia. Mr Puskar Poudyal, Community Engagement Officer, collaborated with various dignitaries for their moral support and participation. Mayor Glenn Docherty form Playford Council and Councillor Steve Coppins’ presence supported Foundation’s volunteers. Attendance of Mr Suman Chhetri from Sydney was an added source of inspiration.

Hard serving volunteers of the day deserving recognition are Mr Hem Adhikari, Mr Dharma Timsina. Mr Laxmi Gautam, Mr Sriman Khatiwada, Mr Sa Mangar, Mr Hari Pokhrel, Mr Pusakr Poudyel and Mr Bhuwani Dhakal. Kids volunteers entailed – Audrey, Edith, Lila, among others.

The free water distribution program is made possible by the support of great people, organisations and businesses. This initiative overwhelmed volunteers as the program assisted to connect them to their roots. Water distribution during hot weather is prime to Asian culture. Punya Foundation representing the migrant population is determined to continue the mission to belong to and to give back to the community.
