Since 2012 Punya Foundation has been providing scholarships to vulnerable primary school children, psychosocial support to women victims of rape and sexual assault and women empowerment through micro-finance projects in Africa. Initially the projects were run for refugees in the Kakuma refugee camps in Kenya. Since 2014, the Foundation has been expanding its services in Ethiopia.

For transparency, responsibility sharing, sustainability and ownership of the programs, and for effective implementation of the projects, Dr Lakshmi Prasad Dhakal had been collaborating with the implementing partner for the formation of a country team in Ethiopia.

The Foundation is happy to announce the formation of Punya Foundation, Ethiopia. The team Ethiopia is lead by Mr Moti Muleta as its chairperson and is manned by four other office bearers namely Mr Tesfaye Solomon, Mr Dajene Gonfa, Ms Bachu  Barsisa and Ms Gelane Nagasa. Team Ethiopia shall look after Foundation’s programs in Africa.

The Foundation’s team in Ethiopia is a selfless team of volunteers working to provide support to vulnerable children with their education and women victims of rape, sexual assault and domestic violence through empowerment programs.
