The children residing in Ambo Town are confronted with numerous economic hardships, hindering their ability to pursue education. Rising material costs in Ethiopia have exacerbated the situation, making it challenging for vulnerable students to attend school. Here fore, Punya Foundation’s scholarship selection process focused on identifying the most economically disadvantaged individuals, with particular emphasis on those living from hand to mouth.

Gutane Mulisa Negera, Keneni Asefa Tefera, Kiya Mulisa Negera, Mitike Mulisa Negera, and Sinbo Elias are the 5 children selected. Three of these children have faced the tragedy of losing both parents. Despite their dire circumstances, these children attended school by begging for necessary learning materials. Punya Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of these children. They now have the tools they need to further their education and build a better future.

Sinbo Elias, in particular, has displayed remarkable dedication to her studies. Despite her economic struggles and the tragic loss of her mother to breast cancer, Sinbo excelled in her last year’s annual examination, securing top position in her class.
