Scholarship Program for Disable Student: Academic Year 2011/2012
Primary criterion:
Disability: Candidate must be diagnosed and documented with a permanent disability. To fulfil this criterion, the Foundation observes following:
1. A permanent functional limitation – physical, sensory, mental, developmental or combination
2. The disability should lead to activity limitations and participation restrictions (as defined by the World Health Organisation)
3. The disability is recognised by the local government authority
Additional criteria:
1. Country and region: Year 2011 Scholarship shall be awarded to a disable student from the refugee affected area of Jhapa and Morang district, East Nepal
2. Citizenship: Must be a Nepali citizen
3. Age: No age barrier
4. Sex: Male or female, equal preference
5. Fields of study: All faculties. A student following a vocational course of less than 6 months duration is not eligible.
6. Capacity: A candidate shall make realistic choice of faculty as per his/her capacity and nature of disability.
7. Institute: A candidate can choose a private or public college
8. Type of award: Unconditional, no compulsion to refund
9. Level: For full-time study of 10+2 level, or its equivalent.
10. Academic performance: A candidate should have passed SLC examination
11. Support: A candidate is not having other sponsors – local, national or international
Information:
1. Number of scholarships: One scholarship position for year 2011/2012
2. Amount: The amount shall be fixed each year (depending upon the fund availability)
3. Payment: Local moderator in consultation with the foundation shall assist the disabled candidate to make payments
4. Duration: One year. Renewal depends on the availability of fund. Foundation shall try to find sponsors . However, a student shall have no right to make claims.
5. Priority: Following factors shall be considered in selection process. Poor financial background, motivation and academic credits. Academic excellence is not a prerequisite.
