BRWF Organises TEEJ Festival in Beldangi: BRAD, FANS Club BRC & Punya Foundation Support

On 26 August 2022 the Bhutanese Refugee Women’s Forum (BRWF) organised Teej festival in Bhutanese Refugee Camps, Beldangi, Jhapa. Fans Club, BRC (Punya Foundation) and Nakshatra Foundation supported the initiative of the BRWF.

Ms Amrita Nepal (Rai) chaired the program. The deputy mayor of Damak Municipality Ms Rajina Bhattarai was the chief guest. Women representatives of various CBOs and camp management attended as guests. The program was attended by women and girls from and refugee camps and local community.

The chief guest highlighted the importance of celebration of Teej festival and wished all participants best wishes of Teej. Ms Devi Maya Gurung, the president of Bhutanese Refugee Association of the Disabled (BRAD) and representative of Punya Foundation shared the work done by BRAD and that of FANS Club, BRC (Punya Foundation) to uplift the refugee community. Ms Gurung thanked youths standing ready to educate refugee children, among others – Mr Lochan Khatiwada, Mr Chandra Upreti, Mr Bhuwan Acharya and Mr Mon Poudyel (one of the resettled youths in Pennsylvania, who started to fund establish Guru Chela program). She also expressed thanks to Punya Foundation for collaboration to help children education.

Ms Amrita Nepal (Rai) thanked the chief guest, guests, and participants for making the program successful. Teej is one of the festivals where females assemble organising various entertaining cultural events.
