On 30 January 2026, with temperatures reaching 41 degrees, Punya Foundation organised its regular activity of free water distribution in South Australia. This event aligns with the hot days of summer, when access to drinking water becomes essential for people spending time outdoors and those relying on public transport.
The water distribution took place at the Salisbury Train Station, SA, a high-traffic public location where commuters and pedestrians were prioritised. Sealed bottled water sourced from Australian supermarkets was distributed free of charge to members of the public, particularly individuals commuting on public transport and those walking through the area during extreme heat conditions.
The event was coordinated by Mr Hari Adhikari, Program Director of Punya Foundation, with strong collaboration and support from local businesses and dedicated community volunteers. Their combined efforts ensured the smooth, safe, and efficient distribution of water throughout the day, helping to reduce the risks associated with dehydration and heat-related illness.

Punya Foundation acknowledges with deep gratitude the sponsorship received from the Bamboo Home Support (Mr Hari Sharma) and Care In NDIS Services (Mr Mohan Bhattarai), Namaste Supermarket (Mr Hari Pokhrel), and A1 Haat Bazzar (Mr Ram Timilsina), Pack & Send (Mr Puskar Poudyal), Unita & Archi Support Care (Mr James Khadka) and Mr Milan Kapasi (electricity, mobile phone services). The contributions from these donors made it possible to deliver this essential service to the community during a period of extreme weather. On lead of Ms Priyanka Dhakal, children Natasha, Priansh, Trijal and Bharat volunteered through the intense heat.
Mr Kashi Adhikari, CEO Punya Foundation extended sincere appreciation to all community volunteers, generous donors, and the Foundation’s executives whose time, leadership, and commitment made this initiative possible. Their collective support reflects a shared responsibility for community wellbeing and compassion, ensuring essential assistance reaches people when it is needed most during extreme weather conditions.
