We are please to welcome Mr Om Guragai as a Coordinator of Community Engagement.

Mr Guragai is a Registered Nurse, Health Coordinator, and community advocate with over ten years of experience in the Australian healthcare sector. His expertise spans clinical nursing, disability support, public health, and multicultural community development. He is dedicated to equity in care, culturally safe practice, and empowering individuals and communities to live healthier, more connected lives.

Currently, Mr Guragai works as a Registered Nurse and Health Coordinator for a disability service provider, developing personalised health and support plans and delivering health education to clients, carers, and staff. He collaborates with families and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated, person-centred care aligned with best practices and NDIS standards.

From 2022 to 2023, he served as a Practice Nurse at the Cabrini Asylum Seeker and Refugee Health Hub, providing clinical assessments and culturally responsive health education within a nurse-led primary care model, strengthening his commitment to vulnerable populations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr Guragai contributed as a Registered Nurse and Infection Control Lead in hotel quarantine for the Victorian Department of Health.

His foundational experience was gained at Albury Wodonga Health (2017–2021), where he was a Registered Nurse and Team Leader in a 31-bed medical ward, overseeing daily clinical operations and fostering a collaborative team culture.

Since 2018, Mr Guragai has actively promoted multicultural inclusion as an Executive Advisor for events in Albury Wodonga. He has supported migrant and refugee families during the pandemic through partnerships with the Department of Health and the Victorian Multicultural Commission. In 2023, he founded Lighthearted Community Connections Inc., supporting grassroots initiatives in Melbourne and Albury Wodonga. He is also the Founder and Executive Director of Australian Communities Connections Inc., a national not-for-profit advancing inclusion and wellbeing for culturally diverse and marginalised communities.

Alongside his professional roles, Mr Guragai volunteers with Parkrun Gawler and the Town of Gawler, balancing community engagement with his clinical work. With a strong healthcare background and community focus, Mr Guragai is committed to building inclusive systems where everyone, regardless of background, is supported to thrive through compassionate care, education, and advocacy.
