Punya Foundation brought the community together for a Nepal Flood Relief Community BBQ, turning compassion and solidarity into practical support for families affected by the devastating floods in Nepal. This reflects Punya Foundation’s longstanding commitment to humanitarian assistance and community engagement.
The relief BBQ was coordinated by Mr Puskar Poudyal (Community Liaison Officer), with the support of Mr Hari Adhikari (Program Director). Their efforts, together with those of the many volunteers, helped create a welcoming and successful community event where people could come together, contribute and show their support for families facing hardship thousands of kilometres away.
Mr Kashi Adhikari, CEO, expressed his sincere appreciation to all guests, donors, supporters and volunteers whose generosity made the event possible. He particularly acknowledged the outstanding support of Lions Angle Vale and Paralowie, who generously provided the BBQ appliances, associated technology and volunteering with expertise for the event. Special thanks were also exte nded to Mr James Khadka, Mr Subash Niraula and Mr Dinesh Kalikote for their generous contribution of bread, sausages, water and onions, helping ensure that the community could come together over a shared meal while supporting an important humanitarian cause.
The Foundation was honoured by the presence and support of Hon Tung Ngo, Member of Parliament, Mr Glen Docherty, Mayor of the City of Playford; Hon. Zoe Bettison, Member of Parliament; Ms Michelle Dieu, Senior Manager, MRC; the Hon. Deepak Dhamala, Consul General for Nepal in South Australia and Mr Thir Gurung, NRNA Coordinator SA. Their presence demonstrated the strong community, civic and diplomatic support for humanitarian efforts assisting people affected by the disaster.
The Foundation also extends its heartfelt appreciation to every volunteer who gave their time, energy and skills to make the event possible, as well as to everyone who attended and contributed.
The Nepal Flood Relief Community BBQ demonstrated that distance does not diminish our responsibility to care for others. Through collective action, generosity and community spirit, people in Australia can make a meaningful difference to families facing crisis in Nepal. Punya Foundation will continue to work through its established humanitarian channels and local partnerships to support communities affected by the floods in a responsible and meaningful manner.
Together, the community has shown that compassion can cross borders and that when people come together, it can become action.
