Punya Foundation observed its 13th year of establishment and World Refugee Day on 20 June 2023 organising a poem recitation program. Mr Khagendra Khatiwada convened the program.
Mr Tilchand Sapkota, the CEO of Punya Foundation chaired the program. Associate Professor Dr. Om Dhungyel was the chief guest. Special guests on attendance were Mr TB Rai (Elizabeth), Mr Sushil Pokhrel (Marion) and Mr Bhuwan Pyakurel (Ohio).
Mr Sapkota welcomed the guests and participants. Sixteen participants from Australia, Bhutanese Refugee Camp in Nepal and New Zealand recited their poems. The poems covered a wide range of themes – differently fulfilled or unmet wishes, hardships attributed to gender, disparity, spirituality, and loving memoirs of the “home”. Simon Bhattarai couldn’t present his bhajan due to technical glitch.
Dr Dhungyel appreciated the growth of such programs and Punya Foundation’s activities. Mr Sushil Pokhrel and Mr Bhuwan Pyakurel commended on the program. Dr Lakshmi Prasad Dhakal concluded the program expressing thanks to all guests, participants, well-wishers, and Punya Foundation’s volunteers.
