Australia is committed to ensuring that every person, no matter their language, culture, or background, can access timely, high‑quality cancer care. From early detection to treatment and ongoing support, services are designed to be inclusive, affordable, and easy to navigate.
Early detection remains one of the most powerful tools in saving lives. Many cancers can be treated more effectively when detected in early stage, which is why paying attention to changes in your body is essential. If you notice unexplained weight loss, unusual lumps, persistent pain, bleeding, or extreme tiredness, it is important to visit your GP without delay. Your GP can examine you, arrange tests, refer you to specialists, and connect you with cancer support services.
Across Australia, many cancer services provided through public hospitals are free for Medicare card holders. Telehealth consultations with specialists have also made it easier for people in regional and remote areas to access expert advice without needing to travel long distances. Organisations such as the Cancer Council offer guidance, emotional support, and practical assistance. For information or help, you can call 13 11 20.
Australia also provides several free cancer screening programs aimed at detecting cancer early.
- BreastScreen Australia offers free mammograms every two years for women aged 50 to 74.
- People aged 45 to 74 receive free bowel cancer screening kits at home.
- Cervical cancer screening is recommended every five years for individuals aged 25 to 74 with a cervix.
- Lung cancer screening is available for people at higher risk, especially long‑term smokers.
Language should never be a barrier to healthcare. Anyone who needs support in Nepali language, or any other language, has the right to request a free interpreter. Hospitals, GPs, and cancer services can arrange interpreters for appointments, information sessions, and phone calls.
Good health begins with awareness and action. Talk openly about health concerns, attend regular screenings, and seek help early. Supporting one another strengthens communities and saves lives.

समयमै क्यान्सर पत्ता लगाउनु जीवन बचाउने सबैभन्दा प्रभावकारी उपायमध्ये एक हो। शरीरमा देखिने असामान्य परिवर्तनहरूलाई बेवास्ता गर्नु हुँदैन। बिना कारण तौल घट्नु, शरीरमा गाँठा देखिनु, लगातार दुखाइ वा रक्तस्राव हुनु, अत्यधिक थकान महसुस हुनु जस्ता लक्षण देखिएमा तुरुन्तै आफ्ना डाक्टर (GP) सँग भेट गर्नु आवश्यक हुन्छ। आफ्ना डाक्टर (GP) ले शारीरिक जाँच गर्ने, आवश्यक परीक्षणको व्यवस्था गर्ने, विशेषज्ञ कहाँ पठाउने तथा क्यान्सर सम्बन्धी सहयोग सेवासँग जोडिदिने काम गर्नु हुन्छ ।
अस्ट्रेलियाभर सार्वजनिक अस्पतालहरूले Medicare मार्फत निःशुल्क क्यान्सर सेवा प्रदान गर्दछन्। टेलिहेल्थ सेवाले दुर्गम क्षेत्रमा बस्ने व्यक्तिहरूलाई पनि विशेषज्ञसँग सजिलै परामर्श लिन सहयोग पुर्याएको छ। क्यान्सर काउन्सिल जस्ता संस्थाहरूले क्यान्सर सम्बन्धि जानकारी, मनोबैज्ञानिक सहयोग तथा व्यावहारिक सहायता उपलब्ध गराउँछन्। क्यान्सर काउन्सिलको सहयोगका लागि 13 11 20 मा फोन गर्न सकिन्छ।
अस्ट्रेलियामा क्यान्सरको प्रारम्भिक पहिचानका लागि विभिन्न निःशुल्क जाँच कार्यक्रमहरू सञ्चालनमा छन्।
- BreastScreen Australia ले ५०–७४ वर्षका महिलाहरूलाई हरेक दुई वर्षमा निःशुल्क म्यामोग्राम उपलब्ध गराउँछ।
- ४५–७४ वर्ष उमेर समूहका व्यक्तिहरूलाई घरमै निःशुल्क आन्द्राको क्यान्सरका लागि दिसा परीक्षण किट पठाइन्छ।
- २५–७४ वर्ष उमेरका पाठेघरको मुख भएका महिलाहरूले प्रत्येक पाँच वर्षमा जाँच गराउन मिल्छ ।
- लामो समयदेखि धूम्रपान गर्ने वा उच्च जोखिममा रहेका व्यक्तिहरूका लागि फोक्सोको क्यान्सरको जाँच उपलब्ध छ।
भाषा स्वास्थ्य सेवामा बाधा बन्नु हुँदैन। नेपाली भाषामा सहयोग चाहिने व्यक्तिहरूलाई निःशुल्क दुभाषे सेवा माग्ने अधिकार छ । अस्पताल, GP तथा क्यान्सर सेवा प्रदान गर्ने संस्थाहरूले दुभाषेको व्यवस्था गर्न सक्छन्।
स्वास्थ्यप्रति सचेत रहनु, नियमित जाँच गरिरहनु, समयमै सहयोग लिनु र एक-अर्कालाई साथ दिनु—यी सबैले क्यान्सरविरुद्धको यात्रालाई सहज बनाउँछन्। सबै मिलेर क्यान्सर सचेतना बढाऔं र जीवन बचाऔं।
