Punya Foundation is pleased to announce the successful completion and acquittal of its Community Cancer Awareness Program, supported by Cancer Australia through the Supporting People with Cancer Grant Program.

The project brought together more than 500 community members through a series of cancer awareness and education activities delivered by Punya Foundation in collaboration with more than 15 partner organisations and community groups in SA, VIC, NSW, TAS and QLD. The program aimed to improve understanding of cancer prevention and screening, increase access to reliable information, and strengthen community confidence in seeking appropriate cancer support and services.

The success of the project is reflected in the strong participant feedback. A total of 167 completed evaluation forms were received and analysed. Of those respondents, 95.2% rated the sessions as Excellent or Good, while 98.2% found the presentations Clear or Very Clear. A further 97.0% considered the sessions Useful or Very Useful, and 96.4% reported being Satisfied or Very Satisfied with the facilitators. Importantly, the program reached a broad community audience, with 88.9% of respondents aged 30 years and above, and strong participation from both women and men.

The project could not have been achieved without the collective contribution of many people and organisations. Punya Foundation sincerely acknowledges Cancer Australia, our collaborating and implementing partners, participating community organisations, community leaders, health professionals, facilitators and dedicated volunteers. We particularly recognise the cancer patients and cancer survivors who generously shared their personal experiences, knowledge and messages of hope. Their voices helped make the program authentic, compassionate and meaningful.

The project has strengthened awareness of cancer prevention, improved understanding of screening, and increased confidence in accessing cancer information and support. Punya Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this important initiative. This achievement demonstrates what is possible when communities, organisations, professionals, volunteers, patients and survivors work together. We look forward to building on this momentum and continuing our commitment to cancer awareness, prevention, early detection and community wellbeing through future partnerships and initiatives.
