The governance team, project team, and project implementing partners of Punya Foundation met on 21 May 2026 to review the progress of the cancer project aimed at improving cancer care equity and increasing cancer screening uptake among Nepali-speaking migrant communities in Australia. The project is funded by the Australian Government through Cancer Australia under the Supporting People with Cancer Grant Program.
The meeting reviewed completed community sessions, implementation progress, and future activity dates. South Australia has successfully completed its sessions with positive community feedback, while additional sessions are planned in Queensland, Tasmania, and Victoria.
The team also appraised the completion of bilingual podcasts and educational materials. A focus group discussion will be organised as part of the final stage of the project.
Project Lead Dr Lakshmi Prasad Dhakal and Project Coordinator Dr Santosh Adhikari thanked all participants and implementing partners for their continued hard work and commitment to completing the project by 18 June 2026.
