Punya Foundation, an initiative of Bhutanese refugees resettled in different western countries and those still living in the refugee camps in Nepal is a charity institute registered in Australia. It operates with a slogan of “Justice Seeking through Education and Empowerment”. Established to remember the sacrifice made by Bhutanese Martyrs, the foundation intends to assist the children of martyrs, political prisoners and vulnerable children throughout the globe. Besides assisting widows of martyrs and rendered vulnerable children, the foundation also works to preserve Bhutanese culture.
Hereby, the Foundation calls applications for the academic year 2011/2012. For details on eligibility and procedure you can click Scholarship. Below is a brief outline:
1. Requirements: Application form and motivation letter (as detail as possible) and supporting documents. Application form – download from the website or collect from your school
2. Deadline: June 28 2011
3. Submission: Secondary school of each camp
4. Camp level selection: June 29 2011
5. Camp level short listing – June 30
6. Final selection venue & date: TRSS, Beldangi II, July 2 2011
7. Selection process: Selection team at school level which comprise of Head Teacher, Assistant Head Teacher, School Counsellor, Camp Secretary and Gender Focal Point shall forward names of 4 most deserving students for final selection. The final selection committee comprising of all Head Teachers of secondary schools and Camp Secretary of Beldangi camp shall select 4 students. The Education Coordinator of Caritas Nepal shall function as an observer.
8. Signing of scholarship contract: July 2, 2011
9. Scholarship amount: 200 US dollars per year
The decision made by the selection committee shall be final and irrevocable.
