Mr Khadga Thapa is a resettled Bhutanese refugee. He lives in Hobart, Tasmania and works as English-Nepali translator for the local community. Having completed his Bachelor of Nursing (BN), Mr. Thapa is currently pursuing studies on Bachelor of Paramedic from the University of Tasmania. Besides this, Mr Thapa is the Coordinator of the Punya Foundation for Tasmania. He has been liaising with the local schools to generate funds to support the education of poor and vulnerable children in developing countries. This year, Mr Thapa coordinated with two local schools collecting around 2,000 AUD.

New Town High School and Cosgrove High School in Tasmania donated to the Punya Foundation for education of children in Nepal. Following the devastating earthquakes of April and May 2015, both the schools initiated donation drives to provide relief to the earthquake victims in Nepal. In their donation drive, as per Mrs Annette Purton of New Town High School, they managed to collect 1,082.45 AUD.  Similarly, the drive of Cosgrove High School coordinated by Mr. Gary Gooley managed to collect 848.95 AUD. Students, school staff and their well wishers participated in the drive and made donation.

Mr. Thapa connected Mrs Purton and Mr. Gary with Dr. Lakshmi Prasad Dhakal, the executive director of the Foundation. The representatives of both schools agreed and deposited their collections in the account of Punya Foundation, which shall be utilized for education of children victimized by the recent earthquakes in Nepal.

The Foundation thanks the New Town High School, Cosgrove High School, their staff, executives and students for their generous donations and their support to be reached to vulnerable children in Nepal through the Punya Foundation. The Foundation also thanks Mr Khadga Thapa for his continued effort to reach the Foundation’s mission to the local community.
