I am Pitam Dulal. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA with my wife and other seven family members. I was born in Dagana district in Southern Bhutan. Due to the political turmoils in Bhutan, at the age of four I had to flee the country with my family. Following this, I stayed in the refugee camps in Nepal for 18 years. The life in the refugee camps was not only living around scarcity but the psychological pressure caused by uncertainty was debilitating.
In the refugee camps, with the help of caritas Nepal, I managed to complete intermediate label of education which helped me a lot to stand on my feet in the USA. I realise that education is key to move forward for a better life. If Caritas Nepal wouldn’t have helped me, my education journey would have come to a halt. As a recognition of the support of Caritas when I needed it the most and inspired by its investment in education, along with my wife, I am committed to donate and educate a poor and needy child with his/her education. Sarasota Khatri, Student of Grade VI, Sindhuplachok district, Nepal
Saraswoti, 12, lives with her mother in Jalbire VDC Ward No. 2, Sindupalchwok in Mid Development Region in Nepal. She is a student of class 6 at Shree Aananda Higher Secondary School, Jalbire. During the devastating earthquake of April 2015 she lost her father. Their house collapsed and they are living under plastic sheets. Suffering from the post effect of trauma and also owing to preexistent poor financial situations, her mother is not in a state to help her further studies. Saraswoti would like to continue her studies and requests for help.
