The Global Bhutan and the Canadian Bhutanese Association (CABTAS) support education of the children, who lost at least one of their parents during the recent earthquakes in Nepal, through the Punya Foundation.

Following the destructive earthquakes in Nepal in April and May 2015, the GlobalBhutan in co-ordination with the Canadian Bhutanese Association (CABTAS) started fund generation to assist earthquake victims. They generated funds through crowd funding and from the local Bhutanese community resettled in Ottawa and their well-wishers. Through crowd funding the Global Bhutan and CABTAS generated 1188 and collected 2980 Canadian dollars through campaign at the community level.

On May 22 2015, the community leaders donated 2980 CAD to Canadian Red Cross to provide acute relief services to the earthquake victims in Nepal. The executives and board of Global Bhutan and CABTAS decided to donate the fund generated via crowd funding to the Punya Foundation to support the education children rendered orphan by the earthquakes in Nepal.

The Punya Foundation is highly grateful and thanks Global Bhutan and CABTAS for its donation to support the education of vulnerable children in Nepal. It is a pleasure for the Foundation to have Global Bhutan and CABTAS as its partners. Please click here for the donors list

With due thanks to Chabi Dhakal, Vice-President of CABTAS for content, images and list of donors.
