ABA Youths Resort to Educate Vulnerable Students in Nepal

ABA Youths -Australian Bhutanese Association organised a fund generation program through a dinner-dance party on 15th August 2015. The ABA Youths organised the program to support the education of children who lost at least one of their parents during the earthquakes of April and May 2015 through the Punya Foundation.

The dinner-dance program was attended by many resettled Bhutanese and well-wishers of ABA Youths. Young Bhutanese artists performed Bhutanese, Nepali and Indian musicals and dances to entertain their audience. The program also had photo session and a short presentation on purpose of the dinner-dance program.

The organisers of the program were Indira Dhungyel, Jeewan Acharya, Ambika Dhungyel, Deepak Dhimal, Adit Dhungyel, Parshu Acharya, Govin Gautam and Teku Kafley of the ABA Youths. The Association of Bhutanese in Australia (Sydney), Sydwest Multicultural Center, Nepalese youths and many resettled Bhutanese volunteered to help the ABA Youths to provide transportation and to purchase foodstuff to make the program successful. The Council provided the hall to organise the program. Nabin Khatiwoda deserves a special acknowledgment for his involvement in preparing typical Nepali foods and getting other volunteers on board to work on Nepali cuisine.

The meeting of the ABA Youths held on 22nd August decided to canalise the fund to support for the education of children who lost at least one of their parents during the recent earthquakes in Nepal and donated 1500 AUD. The ABA Youths intend to partner with the Foundation to educate 10 students per year till the students complete year 10 of their education.
