Nepal Visit for Monitoring and Evaluation: 2017

Mr. Hari Pokhrel, active member of the Foundation visited Nepal in second week of March 2017. This visit was targeted at program appraisal, monitoring and Evaluation. Following his meeting with the implementing partners in Kathmandu, Mr Pokhrel visited Dhading district.

With support of Mr Mohan Niraula and Mr Tika Khatiwada (Board members of Punya Foundation, Nepal), Mr Pokhrel did home visits to far-flung rural villages, namely Ganga Jamuna Municipality, Ward No 4 Gumdi VDC, Dhading district.

In his visit, Mr Pokhrel interviewed a number of students and some of the parents. He sought information on use of funds, satisfaction of children and their parents and their expectations. He also interacted with the school head teachers to assemble information on progress of students and to verify with the submitted report by the implementing partner.

During the Board meeting of the Foundation in Adelaide on 17 April 2017, Mr Pokhrel presented findings of his field visit. In nutshell:

1. The donated amount is reaching Foundation’s target population
2. Both children and their guardians are highly grateful to the support
3. The school authority thanked the donors and sought information if amount and number of scholarships can be increased
4. The most challenging aspects of the scholarship implementation is difficult topography and extremely high need of similar programs
5. Community based organisations expressed their thanks for the ongoing support for education of their children.
